The Faith that Rewards

But now they desire a better country, that is an heavenly, Wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God; for he hath prepared for them a city (Gen 16,17). God said unto Abraham get out of thy country, form your family and from your fathers house to a land which I will show you (12:1 NKJV). Abraham obeyed the voice of God yet he did not know where he was going.  God said he would show him that country(future tense).

It’s always God’s will to move and keep moving. Keep moving util you see the land promised to you. Abraham hd no map no google world so that the could scan for a good hotel and see work opportunities available. He just knew there was something more and something better than what he had. What makes this act of faith remarkable is that Abraham obeyed God. Oh it’s easy to say “yes” to God when the promises look good, when the opportunities are there, but Abrahan’s faith was not in the opportunity, Abrahams faith was in God, the promise came later. My question then is, what is God saying to you that you are willing to act on when what he says may not at this moment make too much sense? Are you you willing to step out in faith just because God requires it or are you basing your decision on the size of the reward. Abrahams reward was that he could trust God! How about you?

Have You the Faith that Endures?

Abraham looked for a city which hath foundations whose builder and maker is God (Heb11;11) Abraham never wavered in his faith (Romans 4;20) Abraham lived in a tent yet looked for a city.  What made him a man of faith was not the fact that he got to own a city but rather that he lived in a tent. Daniel Seagraves  commenting on Abraham. states,”Real faith does more than start the believer on his journey, it sustains him to the end.” Abraham died without receiving the promise of faith, yet he is listed as a “man of faith.” This tells me that a man should not measure his faith according to that which he builds and achieves but rather measure his faith by that which he endures. Some achieve big things, yet fail to end Abraham is an example of real faith that endures even though he has nothing to show, but a promise. Many I then with this in mind ask this question, what is it that keeps you going? is it the fact that one day you will see God’s promises fulfilled in your life or it it the very fact that you have the God kind of faith that can trust his word to the end?  Faith is not measured by what you have but by what you have heard! and I’ve heard God!

Finding New Love at 50+

Seemed like years since I spoke on relationships, I guess I understand that age is no barrier to having a happy life with another. I think many older folks who through divorce or the death of a spouse give up too early in life when it comes to relationships. They often think that their best years are behind them, so they sit alone and grow old alone, unhappy and lonely. This is a choice and a bad one too, if I may say. You are more able than ever to enjoy a successful and happy life a second time around. You are more mature, you are more sincere, you are more settled and wiser now so why not consider starting over.

Here are some keys to consider.
1.People often say “well no-one will want me I have kids and grandkids… “that’s a lie! there are many folks living by themselves who have no companion and no kids and would love the opportunity to be part of a wider family. Remember, your perspective us your perspective and my not be the perspective of any one else you know.
2.Ask yourself what are my strengths, what qualities have I now got that I did not have when I was a teenager and madly in love for the first time. List these strengths, go ahead do it right now. they are contributing factors you can use in a new relationship.
3. The second time around you know you are dealing more with reality than fantasy, so be confident in your ability.
4.Ask how has my love matured? You can walk into a new relationship with a seasoned outlook and mature inlook. You can be a better contributor than a taker and this will stand in your benefit
5.What new goals can we have together? Are we better qualified and positioned to fulfil our goals in life right now more than we have ever been before in our younger days.
6.How can I better the life of the one I’m falling in love with. you both may have more time on you hands at your age in life. consider this. Don’t let your past be a barometer as to how things may be in the future. remember now that you are older you have more patron kindness and can make better decisions. A second time around can work out. yes it can!
7.Can this person fit in well with my family. Will they make my family their’s?
8.Does this person share the same passion as myself about God, mission, business or church? This is a must. I believe folks in their senior age are more likely together it right the second time around ( or even the third for that matter)
9.Stop beating your self up for missing it in the past. my advice don’t miss today! age has nothing to do with relationship success.
10.Here’s to your success!

…let me know your thoughts and successes too.

Trash Preachers and Garbage Collectors

I woke up this morning, I was thinking I need to do my mini-study before anything else, rather than get down into it, I eased myself into the morning by going into facebook. The first thing I saw was a Christian sister who had posted a negative comment on Juanita Bynum on an ancient that took place the other day. I was more bothered by the fact that so called “preachers” have no so regularly resorted to being the social news broadcasters, exposing other peoples troubles woes and faults, I should call them “gossipers” and “slanderers” so called preachers, men and women who have no fresh truth and revelation from heaven so they resort to feeding us garbage from the garb-age, in order to make themselves look spiritual and super holy and what was worse I contaminated my mind with their so called “ministry.” Some preachers are a big turn off, they have nothing good to say other than gloom, doom and garbage. Trash collectors! Then they have the nerve to call themselves “reverend” reverend trash collector!

For if, after they have escaped the defilements of the world through the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overcome, the last state has become worse for them than the first. (2 Peter 2;20). Thats it “defilements” of this world. “entangled.” “Caught up n the wrong stuff,” “ensnared,” “caught in a trap.” They make a ceremony and ministry by  collecting dirt, and spewing forth other peoples waste. They collect contaminated food to poison the minds of the pure in heart.  They recycle trash for a living. I really do wonder what would happen if all the preachers on facebook really did act like Jesus preachers rather than act as garbage collectors for just one day, yes one day.

For it would have been better for them never to have known the way of righteousness than after knowing it to turn back from the holy commandment delivered to them. (v21). What the true proverb says has happened to them: “The dog returns to its own vomit, and the sow, after washing herself, returns to wallow in the mire.” (v22).

Preacher loose yourself. Change your occupation and preach Jesus.

The Sound of Rain

I woke up this morning and heard the sound of rain, yes it’s raining outside. I got up sat at my desk opened my window and rather than listen to music I listen to the sound of rain. there’s something about the sound of falling water that calms the soul. It’s amazing In the heat, its harder to concentrate and stay, but when the rain falls, revelation comes with it.

After three years of drought, nothing happening, food shortage, nothing growing in the fields, Elijah said to Ahab, Get you up, eat and drink; for there is a sound of abundance of rain.… (1 kings 18;41-46). Elijah heard its sound.  Maybe you have been listening to the sound of the media lately, world news forecasting a dry season, economically, globally. In a dry season problems are magnified and man is mystified, I don’t know about you, i’m hearing something different from another source today. I hearing something form heaven. That’s the true news, that which ca only come from above.  Can you hear the sound from heaven, the sound of  refreshing, revival, revitalisation? The air is different today,  can you smell the aroma of freshness is arises from the dampened soil. Yes earth awakes as it receives rain and so will you and so will I. The refreshing has arrived. If you can hear it you shall see it! NO MORE DRY SEASON. The rain has come, Enjoy it, it’s revival time.

Has Humility Died?

Gwynfor Evans in his paperback “Land of my Fathers” states how disagreement broke out between the churches in Wales and those in England. A Christian mission under the eldership of Augustine of Kent came to England in 527, He received a welcome there from Ethelbert, King of Kent. and an invitation was issued to the Celtic church  to send a delegation to meet Augustine. The invite was accepted and a conference was held.

The purpose of the congress from Augustine’s point of view was to get the Welsh to lay aside the distinctive use of baptism, among other things and accept him as Archbishop of Canterbury. A further conference was held to clarify things, this time the Welsh consulted a wise hermit, the advice he gave was this. “If he is a man of God,” said the hermit, about Augustine, “follow him” and here is the sign that you will know whether he is a man of God or not. The Hermit quoted Matthews gospel, “shoulder my yoke and learn fo me for I am gentle and humble in heart.” If he were gentle and humble in heart he should be followed, if he were proud and severe, Christian truth was not in him and his leadership should not be accepted” that is, he could not be recognised as their archbishop.

How were they to make such a judgement though. The hermit suggested that he and his companions should arrive first. If he gets to his feet when you come to him, listen humbly to him for he is a servant of God, but if he scorns you by remaining seated and not rising when you arrive..then you shall greet him with contempt.

Augustine did not rise to greet them and the Welsh did not accept him as Archbishop. It is true, those who lead of God will like God, humble shelves to serve others. The mark of a king is discovered in his ability to serve.  The Man who is too big to help a man lesser than he is too big for the position of king and too ignorant for the title of servant. Even today the rule applies to those who call themselves archbishops and prophets and other grande titles, let those who lead be your servants … first!
